Alpena High School provides an oppertunity for students to take a variety of courses through distance learnig by partnering with Virtual Arkansas. Virtual Arkansas is an Arkansas-based program that is implemented through a partnership between the Arkansas Department of Education and the Arkansas Education Service Cooperatives. They provide an array of quality digital courses to public school students in Arkansas and utilize Arkansas licensed instructors. They are not an online high school or a diploma-granting institution but are a resource for supplementing education for public school students. Students who are enrolled in a public school may be enrolled in Virtual Arkansas courses by the local school administration. Many Core and CTE courses are avalible to students through this program. These courses can be taken any hour of the day, and are facilitated by Mrs. Waters in the Distance Learning Lab on campus. If a student is interested in taking a Virtual Arkansas course they need to speak with Mrs. Waters or Mrs. Garrett.
