Welcome Back!

Looks like we will have a great year!

Please make sure you have all paperwork done, filled out, and returned on Tuesday!  Please parents and students get signed into Remind.  This is one of the main ways I will be sending out information and messages.

Please get your supplies for your instrument before school or after school or from Palen music co. so that we do not take up class time to do this.

I will have practice time before school everyday for those that need to come in for extra help. I may have sectionals, rehearsal with the advanced band or times that you can help with the beginners then also.

Have a great attitude and play pretty!

Tuner/Metronome These are great to have and very helpful.  Please get one.

Soundcorset – is both iphone and android –   This one is great especially if you are a transposing instrument (not in the concert pitch.)  It will show the concert pitch and your note at the same time along with the tuner.    Sharp (to right of center) – pull out, relax the embouchure, or don’t bite.  Flat (to the left of center) – push in, tighten the embouchure from sides, or focus the air(colder air).

Ipods, ipads, etc.

TE tuner (tonal energy tuner)(This is not free but is not expensive) - This has the smiley face that I am using in class.  It also has a metronome included in the app.

You want to have the smiley face showing in the middle to be in tune.  Remember to keep the air flowing as you are tuning. If the arc is above the middle (sharp), you need to pull out at the appropriate place or loosen your facial muscles (embouchure) or slow your air a little. If the arc is below the middle (flat), you need to push in at the appropriate place, tighten your facial muscles (embouchure), or speed up your airstream (us your tummy muscles).

Android

Da Tuner Lite  -  This shows the note in concert pitch in the middle.  On the left is the decibles (how loud it is) and at the bottom is the line showing the tuning. It does not have a metronome.

If the guide is in the middle and the color of the screen is green, you are in tune.  Remember to keep the air flowing as you are tuning. If the tube is to the is to the right of the middle (sharp), you need to pull out at the appropriate place or loosen your facial muscles (embouchure) or slow your air a little. If the tube is to the left of the middle (flat), you need to push in at the appropriate place, tighten your facial muscles (embouchure), or speed up your airstream (us your tummy muscles).

Mobile Metronome - is a metronome that has everything and is free on Androids
