Minutes of the December 14, 2009 meeting of the Alpena Board of Education;
The meeting was called to order by president Joe Smith at 7:25 PM.
Members present were: Joe Smith, Roger Grisham, Kenneth Davis, Ron McNair and Scott Widner.
The minutes of the December 12, 2009 meeting were approved. The motion came from Mr. Davis, the second from Mr. Grisham and the vote was 5-0.
The financial report for November was approved. The motion came from Mr. Smith, the second from Mr. Davis and the vote was 5-0.
Mr. Trammell presented a plan for replacing the alumni graduation markers. The plan was developed by Austin Faddis as an EAST project. The board approved the plan. Mr. Trammell said that he would like to incorporate a curb project in front of Old Main, in conjunction with the graduation markers, to help runoff water from getting into the basement. The board had no objections.
The board approved Alpena School District’s participation in the Arkansas Race to the Top Grant. The motion came from Mr. Davis, the second from Mr. Widner and the vote was 5-0.
The board approved a $75 bonus to all staff for Christmas.
Mr. Trammell spoke about the US News and World Report article honoring Alpena High School.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:15 PM.
